Drumup Social Media Sites Management And Marketing App And Platform


Chances are good that you may not have heard of Drumup online. Social media management, social media tools and social media platforms are necessary for any blogger or website owner and it brings me great pleasure to give you some insight into this new tool. After being contacted by one of the owners of this platform, giving it a trial run and and checking out what this social management system had to offer, I wanted to share my experience with you and give you an overview of it.

After logging into the website, the first thing that you are going to do is build your content feed. On the first page as seen here:

You are going to see a welcome page that gives you the opportunity to add topics, keyphrases and other keywords that you want to track that is in the content you're targeting. In my own case as a blogger, I tracked blogging type keywords. It's pretty straightforward. Just start typing your keywords in and it will start to autofill suggestions for you. I'd recommend starting out with 5 to 10 keywords to track for your content. Once you're done typing in your keywords, click on the [build my content feed] button.

As seen in this image you will also see that you're given some do's and don'ts for your completing this keyword exercise as well that I thought was a helpful section in this area. The first screen is where you'll see (as seen below) keyword tips and then clicking on the keyword guide will give you the what to do and what not to do tips as mentioned in the first line of this notation on the keyword exercise.

Once you've clicked on the content feed button, you're greeted with another screen that asks you to fill out additional details:

  • Country - targets content from your country
  • Time Zone - making sure that when you schedule your posts that you're in the right time zone
  • Email - needed so that Drumup can send you information regarding your account

Of these areas, the only one that is mandatory is the email prompt. Once you've completed this, just click done and Drumup will start to fetch your content in connection to the keywords you selected. You'll be greeted with this image once you're done.

You'll then be greeted with a content feed. In my opinion, this format of receiving a feed where you filter through stories to see what you'd like to share on your social accounts is similar to Triberr. Nevertheless, the format is proven online and it works in the way of getting relevant content out to your readers.

With that said, here's an example of what you'll see when you find a story to share in your social accounts. In my case, I signed up with my Twitter account and in this image you'll see that I'm scheduling a story in my Drumup feed to share with my Twitter followers.

In the image you'll see some different options at your disposal such as:

  • Publishing time - you can choose from two options (automatic or custom). If you choose custom, another box will appear allowing you choose the date and time that you'd like your content to be shared on the social accounts you've set up on your Drumup account
  • Hashtag recommendations - Drumup will automatically fill in some hashtags for you but you can also remove them, leave them and add your own that you feel would align well with the content that you're scheduling
  • Repeat post - in this section you can select the number of days that you'd like to see the post shared with your social accounts and how many times you want to the repeat to occur
  • Save to content library - allows you to save your selected content to your library (can be found in the subsection in the content tab)
  • Upload image - allows you to add visuals to your content that is shared
  • Social accounts selection - select which social accounts you want your content to appear in

Once you've shared your content, you will see a notification show up in your content queue with a number indicating how many posts are still waiting to be shared. If you want to share even faster, use the 1 click option.. very useful if you don't need to preview the content and just want to schedule it right away.

You've heard me mention that you can send content from your feed to social accounts. In Drumup there are currently only 3 social accounts options (possibly a bummer for some of you with tons of accounts) that you can share content with. Personally, I'd like to see them add more to stay competitive (even though I realize theyare connected to the top 3 most used social platforms) with other similar platforms but for now their offering is limited to the following:

  1. Twitter
  2. Facebook
  3. Linkedin

I do not know what the limits are on how many accounts from each platform can be added though and did not test this thoroughly. Nevertheless, I can tell you that if you have a personal Linkedin account and a business Linkedin account, you can only add one one of the two. That may or may not be an issue, but I would personally like to be able to add both so hopefully that is something that the creators of Drumup can look into. As for Facebook, since I do not currently subscribe to that platform as most of you know how I feel about Facebook if you've been following my posts for any time at all, that is a platform that I cannot speak to in regards to this overview. If you're curious about why I don't subscribe to having my own Facebook page, here's just one of many reasons as seen in this video. Additionally, I can tell you that for each social account platform that you add, you'll add keywords for that platform and it's connected accounts to connect relevant content for your feed.

With that said, lets go over the 4 main tabs that you have at your disposal in Drumup as seen in this image.

You'll see the following tabs:

  • Content
  • Queue
  • Create
  • Settings

Under the content tab you will see your content feed. In the feed there are 3 subcategories that include: recommended, feeds, library.

In the recommended section, this is based off of your keywords. Use the keyword guide section that I mentioned before because it will help you more clearly laser target the content that shows up here. If you find that the content isn't that targeted then refine your keywords using the help section.

In the feeds section, if you have other feeds that you have found that you like content from, then add those feeds here and their content will show up in your content feed and you decide which posts will get scheduled. Additionally, you can set it to automatically share posts from your own blog too. I use Meetedgar for this purpose, but comparatively speaking, Drumup seems fairly comparable to that platform, but each platform has their own unique qualities, however, I do like the simplicity of the Drumup platform in comparison, hence the review and providing another option to my readership for scheduling posts and sharing content.

You will notice that you can compose a message that can be posted to the social accounts that you create. It will show you a post count and we all know that Twitter is 140 characters so in this box if you're posting to Twitter keep in mind to keep your message within those constraints, but if you're posting to Linkedin you know that the post is not limited to 140 characters and the same should be kept in mind if you use this section to post to Facebook.

In the settings area, this will show you information on your keywords, the number of curated posts per day which is used for the 1 click scheduler, your country, time zone, negative keywords which is nothing more than keywords that you don't want to see in your suggested stories (the content feed).. In lamen's terms.. this is how you filter your content feed even more. Additionally, you can specify whether you want to get top stories of the day by email and how often you get them (e.g. daily, 2x's per week or weekly.. you can even unsubscribe in this area too).

The last sections to address are:

  • Upgrade / pricing schedule
  • Referrals
  • Support

While you get a limited trial run with Drumup which is currently a generous 14 days, once you decide to make the jump to upgrading to a paid account, their pricing schedule is as follows:

As you can see the Pro plan is priced at $49 per month which is likely to be sufficient for most and there are options for those that require a bit more out of Drumup priced between $99 and $199 per month.

On the subject of referrals, Drumup does provide a unique referral link which I have used in this post. If you choose to participate in the referral process you will have to click on the "refer & get $10" link and then click on the "know more" link. This will take you to your referral dashboard where you can track any activity related to your referrals. This is where you will locate your unique tracking link, but this area is still somewhat confusing to me since it would seem that there's a referral area and a "separate section" for affiliates. Personally, I'd like to see this be one area instead of two, but those are just my thoughts on it.

If you'd like to become an affiliate, just click on the link at the bottom of the page and tell them how you will promote their product and Drumup will respond back to you with an approval or disapproval of your request in 48 hours to be able to participate in their affiliate program.

As for support, there are 3 areas here: contact us, FAQ and the keyword guide page I mentioned earlier. The contact us page is pretty standard. Just fill in the details and they will get back to shortly as they state on their page. I'd like them to specify a time frame: whether that be 24 hours, 48 hours or 72 so that anyone utilizing this page to communicate has some idea as to how long they will have to wait for a reply.

On the FAQ page, there are a number of areas they address so hopefully if you run into a problem, you find the solution on this page.

The last area of the support page is the keyword help guide which I have referenced several times in the post. I would highly recommend checking out this area as it will help you in better targeting what you're going to see in your content recommendation feed.

Drumup appears to be a solid social media management platform (can also be found in an app version on the Google play store and Apple App Store) to connect your readers with relevant content for your social accounts and it gets my thumbs up hence the recommendation and overview that I have made here in this post. Try it out and after 14 days if you're not satisfied, you've lost nothing at all. So far from what I have seen in my activity on Drumup, I've already gotten some referral activity from my followers liking / reposting what I'm sharing through this platform which from my perspective is certainly a good sign that Drumup is on the right track with their product.

So of course, the curiosity of the invitation led me to check this out. At the time of the invite, when I signed up, there were roughly 900+ invited users ahead of me waiting in line and within 5 days I received my congratulatory email with very light promotion of the link Instawoot gave me to help me move up in line. Neverthelesss, let’s assume that you’ve signed up and have received your welcome to Instawoot email. Once you’re in, here’s what the dashboard looks like.

As you can see, the dashboard will tell you:

the number of credits that you have left in the system along with the following options / tabs:

  • a follow users option

  • like posts option

  • promote your posts option

  • my promotions tab

  • account settings tab

  • search posts feature

The "follow users" tab is pretty self explanatory. Instawoot, calls users “igers”.. it’s a little weird to me but I guess that’s what they came up with as a way to shorten the word Instagramers. Still a strange word.. maybe they’ll stick with it, maybe they’ll change it.. only time will tell.

Either way, you can click to follow users, but currently they will throttle how many you can follow each hour. For each user that you follow, you will earn credits and that number of credits is outlined beside each user.

On the “like posts” option that is available to you, you can like a post and earn credits that way as well. From what I’ve seen most of those will only earn you 2 credits for each like you give.

On the “promote your posts” option, you can promote your own content for 35 credits for each item that you want promoted. The other day when I updated the content on my page, the page didn’t show the updated posts, but as of today a new button has been added called “fetch missing or new posts” which fixes the updating problem I encountered and it works well so that tells me they are still working out the bugs but I’ve got no complaints outside of the 35 credits which I personally think is kind of high but maybe they’ll provide a tiered option later or adjust it as they see fit. Time will tell on this as well.

In the “my promotions” tab, this is where you can monitor the promoted posts that you’ve paid for and in the “account settings” page this is pretty standard as you have the ability to change your name, email, bio and credit settings.

I mention the credit settings because you can set how many credits you’re willing to release for each follower and like you get towards your posts. My account is set at the maximum which is currently 4 for each option which I would assume Instawoot will likely allow you to increase to something greater than 4 as their user base increases and development of the product and it’s features becomes more expansive.

Instawoot is the new “big thing” in the Instagram tool conversation and it’s an exciting time for bloggers, marketers and nearly any one else looking to grow their Instagram following and engagement on their accounts safely.

At it's core function, this platform serves as a scheduling management tool for your activities on Pinterest. With that said, the first thing that you should be aware of is their pricing schedule. Unfortunately, they aren't a completely free tool, but you can try them out for free by clicking on any of the activate viraltag buttons as the one seen above.

As you can see depicted in the image with respect to your social profiles, one thing that I do like about Viraltag is that you get to push your scheduled images to several social profiles upon publishing which allows for increased exposure for your pins. This is definitely a huge benefit to using the scheduler in conjunction with any of the social accounts that you choose to connect.. something that I will get into a little later on in the post.

Nevertheless, once you've given them your details after choosing which option you'd like to continue on with after your trial is over, you'll be able to start making full use of the platform. You will find on the navigation panel to the left side of your screen the following items:

Dashboard which has 4 subsections that are the following:

  • Scheduled Posts - this section shows you the images that you have scheduled that include details such as time to be scheduled, the link and description associated with the scheduled image, the connected account that you also want associated with that image and the date when the post will be published to the selected Pinterest board selected for the post as well. All of this is viewable in the image below including the "bulk options".  You can apply one board, one description and one link to all of your images at the same time. A very nice utility if you're not interested in varying the information from image to image.

  • Recent Posts - shows you the most recent published posts.
  • Failed Posts - posts that the system was not able to publish to your board. Retrying / rescheduling may result in a good submission.
  • Posting Schedule - allows you specify time frames for when you want posts to be scheduled (Disclosure: not an option that I have used since I find the regular scheduler meets my needs adequately for my boards).

Post... With respect to this section, once you have clicked on it, opens another dialogue box that gives you options for how you'll introduce / upload images into the system through the following means as depicted in the images to follow as well:

What I like about this section is that you don't have to leave the website to find the images. It's incorporated right into the discovery page itself. There are several categories to choose from or you can conduct your own search right from this page for images that you want to share or pin.. which can be added to the scheduler simultaneously.

The categories include the following as also depicted in the image below, however you will also notice in the second image that I did a search for SEO to depict what results show up for search terms you input and in the following image, that upon clicking the clock symbol in the lower left hand corner brings up the scheduler as well:

  • Extensions - Gives you added functionality to the Viral Tag platform by allowing for greater flexibility in how you pin with their bookmarklet and extensions. Three are provided for your use (e.g. Chrome Extension, Safari Extension and the Viraltag bookmarklet for use in Internet Explorer and / or Firefox) as depicted in the image below.

  • Referral Program - Gives you the opportunity to be able to use the platform completely free through referrals. You are provided with a referral link that can be promoted through social media outlets and each time a customer signs up for an upgraded plan you earn a $30 credit for use in the system and the purchaser earns a $15 credit themselves.

In closing, I'd like to say this.. that if you've been following my posts for any amount of time you will find that I'm not one to "pitch" anything per se, especially on a product that I have not used or signed up to use myself personally. I know, I know.. it sounds like a sales pitch, but there's also this perspective.. if it's something you love, if it's something that you feel strongly about, it's hard for it not to sound like a sales pitch too. Nevertheless, Meet Edgar is bringing something new to the game so lets get into a little more of what it's all about.

I came across Meet Edgar randomly through a news article recently. At the time of this post, the website is invite only. The unique thing about this website is that while it's pretty common knowledge that yes, your updates are likely to only be seen by a fraction of your audience, now you have a chance to make your life a lot easier by sharing your content much more sensibly while making much more efficient use of your time in the process.

For instance, of the social sites that I participate in at the moment, Twitter is where I see the most activity. However, the content that typically gets posted with respect to my website is always the most current material. So what happens to everything else I've written.. ? Is it really a one and done reality that I have to settle for ? What about all the people that "didn't" get to see the older posts that I've written and don't want to sift through my website to find that content ?

Well... quite honestly, they probably won't see it unless they do some exploration of their own or unless that particular post ranks well somewhere down the road. While the likelihood of that happening varies from page to page, as a blogger with a growing website, what I have learned is that in all truths.. not all your pages are going to get seen or read by your audience and fans.

In nearly any social platform that exists today, all have the ability to "schedule" posts. However, the task of scheduling is quite frankly a pain in the neck and very tedious. Nevertheless, many of us do it anyway in spite of that fact because it means another opportunity for others to view the content that we've written or to view our website.

Go to your favorite social website and...

  • Schedule a few posts..

  • The posts go live...

  • Then go schedule some more...

  • They go live..

  • Rinse and Repeat..

  • Yuck !

Needless to say, one would think that there has to be a better way to do this.

Once you're in you'll notice that they will want you to connect your social accounts. You'll notice on the Individual Plan and I don't know if it's different on any of the other plans, but you'll see Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN and Facebook Page. Those were the only 4 options that were available to me even though the plan says that you can connect up to 10. My best guess is that you can have multiple accounts set up between the 4 options that I mentioned.

The next thing that will happen is that you'll be taken to your library. In your library pane you will see categories and different colors associated with them too. I saw an introduction video after signing up where the narrator of the video called these categories, "buckets" which I thought was pretty catchy. Some of you might adopt that too so by all means, do whatever works best for you.

  • Questions

  • Tips

  • Use Once

These categories can be changed at any time. You can also feel free to add other categories that may be better suited to your website, business or brand.

Meet Edgar Review Queue And Schedule

If we're to follow what's in the top pane, lets move on to the Queue. The purpose of the queue is to show you what's been scheduled and ready to be published. As you set up your schedule, items will get added to your queue. I quickly set up a schedule for demonstration purposes as seen below (updated):

To add a new item to the scheduler, just click on "add timeslot" and then choose what category you want to draw an item from. Keep in mind that in order for this to work, you must have already filled your categories with items that you want in that particular category. It doesn't matter whether you're promoting your own content or whether you're promoting someone else. I would recommend filling "each category" that you want to draw from with at least 20 items. This will take a little time, but once you've set it up, it's on autopilot from there. You will see the items show in the queue as well as depicted in the following image:

Your queue is just another representation of what you've already seen on your calendar. From what I have seen in testing out the system, it works quite well and I haven't experienced any hiccups yet. I've been very please with my experience with Meet Edgar so far. As I mentioned before, once it's set up, you can feel free to tweak and make minor changes and it's a much more efficient use of your time. Time that is valuable to each and every one of us and something you can never get back once it's gone.

While you already have out of the box categories, these categories can be edited, deleted and of course you can add your own. As you may have noticed to the right of the image, there is a category called "use once". This is pretty nifty... Any content that you place in this category will only be used once and never repeated unless you take it out of there and place it into another category.

Here is where you are going to add new content to the system. What I discovered after adding a bunch of content was that I hadn't selected my "account". So of course, I had to go back and select the account so that it knew that the content I was uploading was connected to my twitter account. If you don't select your account "first" then it will automatically be added to your library under the "none" account label. You don't want that, otherwise when you schedule your posts, you won't see anything in the queue because your content won't have the right account associated with it.

However adding content is very easy. Meet Edgar even has a bookmarklet that you can get that makes adding pages a breeze. However when you use the bookmarklet, it wants to add your content to the queue instead of adding it to the library. Using the bookmarklet does it make it easier, but personally I prefer to add items to the library instead of going straight to the queue, but of course the preference is yours. Update: Meet Edgar has added a preview button to this section which allows you to see exactly what the content is going to look like before it gets shared to the accounts you've specified.

Meet Edgar Review - Just A Few More Things

Update: Meet Edgar will also allow you to connect to your rss feeds which I highly recommend. It makes importing all of your content for the selected (feed(s)) very easy. That content can be imported directly into your library or as pending content. I typically just import it straight into the library.

The next thing I'd like to mention is that if you have a account, I would suggest connecting it. You can do that through your settings page and click to connect it. It will auto shorten your links in anything you post. Very useful feature actually.

On support you can view their archive of help articles just by clicking on the support link in the top pane.

With that said, there's not much else to Meet Edgar. While it does come at a cost, it's very useful and for me, the price is well worth the time that it will save me to allow for greater productivity online. I would encourage you to give it a try.

It's one of the few products out there that I think would be hugely beneficial to anyone that blogs or to those that want to connect more often with their audiences on social media and just don't have the time to do it. This is a very unique solution that does every bit of what it claims it can.
